As you walk around the aisles of him Yorkshire Food and Drink Show you will be greeted by the bright colours of the fresh produce, the sizzle of ingredients as they hit woks and barbeques and the exotic combination of aromas.
Come along and visit some of Yorkshire’s finest restaurants serving their signature dishes. Taste authentic street food from around the world, choose form one of your favourite cuisines or why not be tempted to try something new. There’s also a tempting selection of drinks to choose from including traditional beers, cocktails, Pimms and champagne.
VW camper vans are iconic classic vehicles and raise smiles wherever they go. So imagine how big those smiles will be on seeing one that has been converted into a fully equipped mobile cocktail bar.
Meet Vera, a gorgeous 1979 T2 and the latest edition to the Beetle Juice fleet of 14 mobile cocktail bars. Managed by Beetle Juice franchisees, Dan and Claire, she’s primed and ready to bring the party to weddings, festivals, parties, local shows and corporate events right across the Yorkshire region.
When Dan and Claire saw the Beetle Juice concept in full swing at a wedding in London, they loved it and were keen to bring the brand up north. With years of experience in the hospitality industry, Dan Gore – a former general manager of popular Napa Bar and Kitchen in Roundhay (now Banyan) and currently also working for Bacardi Brown Forman Brands – is well placed to develop the business and deliver top quality events, supported by his partner Claire who works in communications and marketing.
The couple took a couple of trips down to Surrey to meet the team and just a few months later Beetle Juice North East and Vera were ready to go.
Dan said: “It’s always been my ultimate ambition to have my own business, and this is an industry that I know and love. When I saw that there was a franchise opportunity with Beetle Juice it felt like the perfect opportunity to start realising that ambition.
“I love the creativity of mixing cocktails and the theatre of doing this in a converted VW camper van makes it even sweeter. Having a retro, iconic VW camper at weddings, parties or corporate events is a real crowd pleaser and something a little bit different that people don’t forget.
“Wherever we go, people absolutely love Vera and what we do, and I am really looking forward to taking the party to the people of Yorkshire!!”
Beetle Juice has been growing rapidly since being set up by brothers Jules and Jonny Gomma and their friend Harry Sloan in Surrey back in 2012. The guys had an old VW camper van that they used for trips to festivals and holidays and thought converting it into a cocktail bar would be a really cool idea. They now have a fleet of 14 vintage VW mobile cocktail bars and franchisees covering Yorkshire and the north east, Cheshire and the north west, Wales, Bath, Devon, Cornwall and Kent.
Jules Gomma said: “We have known for a while that there is big demand for Beetle Juice in Yorkshire and it’s not always easy for us to get to. So when Dan and Claire got in touch and were so enthusiastic about what we do, we couldn’t wait to meet them and get them on board.
“Dan brings bags of experience with him and with Claire’s support we can’t wait to see Vera and the Beetle Juice concept growing up north.”
Beetle Juice North East already has bookings with Vera for a number of weddings, festivals and shows throughout the region, including the Yorkshire Food and Drink Festival (Leeds), Tramlines (Sheffield) and will also be rocking out at Download Festival at Donnington Park with two other Beetle Juice bars.
