Target Housing

Target Housing

We believe in uniting the communities in which we work and bringing people together. This event is a chance for people to get together from all over Rotherham and the surrounding areas, from all different cultures, getting them talking, interacting, building social networks and ‘getting to know their neighbour’; uniting communities through a shared medium of food. Having attendees develop new knowledge and greater awareness of the heritage and culture of others, learning in the fun context of a celebration.

Together with the help of the Big Lottery Fund we are able to sponsor this event which we believe share the same aims with Target of joining communities and unifying people. This is why we were eager to sponsor and partake in such a great celebration.

Target Housing is a local community charity based in Rotherham with branches across South Yorkshire and the Humber. Set up in 1993 to house and support homeless adults with multiple needs, Target has been active within communities for over 25 years with the aim of adding additional benefits to neighborhoods and reintegrating the people we support into their local community. Over this time Target has housed and supported a great many people from a very wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, every contact enriches and enhances Target Housing.

We work with other local charities, organisations and local councils in order to achieve the best outcomes we can to improve the lives of our client group, we recognise the importance a community can play in achieving better outcomes for individuals. We provide and run classes and activities such as pottery classes, music therapy and cookery lessons, where local people are invited to attend as well as those we support. We partake in local community events, attend neighbourhood meetings and chair local groups.

Our overall goal is to enable vulnerable people to live independently, fulfil their potential and contribute to their communities and wider society.
